Vision Miner Wiki

Material Types

This article provides video guides for printing high-performance engineering materials on the Vision Miner 22IDEX V4. Each video covers material-specific settings, preparation techniques, and best practices for achieving optimal results.

General

Lower Temperature Engineering Materials

Materials in this category offer excellent chemical resistance and ease of printing at temperatures accessible to most FDM printers. These materials bridge the gap between standard plastics and high-performance polymers.

Nylons (Polyamides) & Composites

Nylon-based materials provide exceptional strength-to-weight ratios and impact resistance. Carbon fiber and glass fiber reinforcement significantly reduces warping and improves dimensional stability compared to unfilled nylons.

Polycarbonates & Composites

Polycarbonate materials offer high impact strength and optical clarity with good heat resistance. Carbon fiber reinforcement increases rigidity and dimensional stability for structural applications.

High-Temperature Nylons (PPA/HTN) & Composites

High-temperature nylon formulations offer superior heat deflection and chemical resistance compared to standard nylons. These materials serve as drop-in replacements for machined Delrin and provide metal-like performance.

Sulfone Polymers & High-Performance Thermoplastics

This family includes some of the highest-performing thermoplastics available for FDM printing. Sulfone polymers (PSU, PPSU) and polyetherimides (ULTEM) offer exceptional chemical resistance, high-temperature performance, flame resistance, and sterilization compatibility for aerospace, medical, and industrial applications.

Ultra-Performance Polymers (PEEK) & Composites

PEEK (PolyEtherEtherKetone) represents the pinnacle of FDM thermoplastic performance with exceptional strength-to-weight ratios, extreme temperature resistance, and comprehensive certifications. Carbon fiber reinforcement dramatically improves printability while maintaining outstanding mechanical properties.
