Machine Name Setup

If you have multiple 22IDEX printers on your network, you can assign each one a unique name to easily distinguish between them. This allows you to connect using a custom name like myprinter.local instead of the default 22idex.local.

You should change your machine's name if:

  • You have multiple 22IDEX printers on the same network
  • You want easier identification of specific machines
  • You prefer custom naming for better organization

Default behavior:

  • All 22IDEX printers use 22idex.local by default
  • If you only have one printer, you don't need to change this

Machine name format

Machine names should be simple, lowercase, and without spaces. Use hyphens if needed (e.g., printer-1). Keep names short (under 15 characters) and use only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens.

  1. Choose Yes, Apply Now to reconfigure Access Point with the new name immediately. The machine will restart to apply changes.

Connection will change

After changing the name, you must use the new name to connect. The old name will no longer work. Your new address will be [your-machine-name].local.

Connecting After Name Change

Once the name is changed, access your printer using the format [your-machine-name].local.

Examples:

  • Default: http://22idex.local
  • Custom: http://printer1.local
  • Custom: http://workshop.local

Multiple machines setup:

If you have three printers, you could name them:

  • printer1.local, printer2.local, printer3.local
  • Or use descriptive names: production.local, testing.local, development.local
