Z-Probe Wire

This guide covers how to replace the Z-Probe wires on the Vision Miner 22IDEX V4. The Z-Probe and its dock are mounted on Tool 0 (T0). The probe attaches to the Z-Probe dock via magnets. If the Z-Probe has failed and needs wire replacement, we recommend ordering a complete replacement probe with pre-installed wires. However, if you need to replace the wires yourself, follow this procedure.

Before you begin - safety and risk

Read the Safety - Before You Begin article to understand the hazards involved in working on the Vision Miner 22IDEX V4 - including electrical, thermal, mechanical, and chemical risks. All procedures in this wiki are provided as recommendations only. By choosing to follow any procedure, you do so at your own risk.

This procedure applies only to Tool 0 (T0). The signal cable on Tool 1 (T1) does not need to be replaced.

  1. Using a 2 mm hex screwdriver, press the release tab on the terminal block to release each wire. Hold the terminal block holder from behind while pressing to prevent bending it. Always support the terminal block holder from behind when pressing the release tabs – pressing without counter-support can bend or break the holder.

  1. Route the wires to the terminal block. Insert the new white and black silicone wires into the terminal block. After connecting, pull the cables taut so they do not sag or rub against the belt. The wires must be neatly routed, must not contact any moving parts, and must not hang low enough to interfere with the probe docking into the probe dock.
